• Photos of meals you upload for analysis - any information you upload, including photos of meals, will be stored on our servers
• Any notes or tags you add to your meals

When you register for an Account, we may ask for your contact information, including items such as name, company name, address, email address, and telephone number.

Automatically Collected Information

• Device information (type, operating system)
• Usage data (app interactions, features used)
• Crash reports and performance data

Log Files

What The Plate follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.

Google and Apple Sign In

What The Plate offers you the option to sign in using your Google or Apple account. We will receive your name and email address from these providers, but we do not receive or store your passwords.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve our meal analysis services
• To generate your personal food diary and insights
• To send you important updates about the service
• To respond to your inquiries and support requests
• To analyze usage patterns and improve our app

• Contract: to provide the core app features you request

AI Nutrition Analysis and Third-Party Data Sharing

To estimate nutrition from your meal photos and food descriptions, we send this data to Google AI (Gemini). Before any data is sent, we ask for your permission and explain what will be shared.

• What we send: Meal photos you capture and food descriptions you type
• Who receives it: Google AI (Gemini), operated by Google LLC
• Purpose: To analyze your meals and return calorie and macro estimates
• Protection: Data is transmitted securely and processed according to Google's AI terms and privacy policies

Data Sharing and Processors

We use trusted service providers to run the app, including Supabase for storage and authentication, Google AI for nutrition analysis, and the Apple/Google app stores for billing. We do not sell your data and do not share it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. Your meal photos and data are stored securely and encrypted both in transit and at rest.

Children's Information

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.

What The Plate does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen in the app (Data & Privacy → Delete account). This permanently removes your account, meal history, and photos. Logs and backups are kept for a limited time for security and recovery and are removed routinely.

International Transfers

Your data may be stored or processed in countries other than where you live. We use protections like encryption and standard contractual safeguards where required.

You have the right to:
